The decline of India´s girls.

Economic growth has brought gender justice as sex-selective abortion means more boys than girls are born every year. It is certain that India’s economic growth rate is increasing. But its population of girls in relations to boys is declining.
In India girls are either eliminated before they are born or they die before they reach the age of six. Studies show that somehow girls keep disappearing principally trough sex-selection techniques. If a test confirms a girl the decision is quick and sure. Why bother to bring them to the world is a difficult question to understand. Although women are worshiped as gods India and some of them occupy the highest position in society, a girl is still considered a burden. Of course not all parents think so.
The main reason behind this idea is because most of the time wealth has to be shared by members of the ‘family’. The ‘family ‘meaning the men, must divide the wealth among themselves. Girls marry other men and then the family wealth would go to other men. Girls have to be loaded with goodies; on the other hand boys bring the goodies plus an extra hand to help with the chores around the house.
There is a specific law though that prohibits the use of technology to detect the sex of the fetus. Where this law in enforced some people simply go elsewhere. The wealthy go abroad. Thailand is a favored destination for techniques that ensure you have a boy.

  1. Hii stef, how you doing? like your blog, very colourfull..well about your article, first of all it is very awfull that girls in poor countries have to deal with prostitute to earn money. Or like this kind of problem in India that they do not like girls and if the women birth a girl they will kill her. it is awfull. I don't understand this kind of humanity. :( but thank god it is declining. They just do not know that we as girls are the best and they cannot live without us..hihihi :D
